Happy Birthday! Miss you buddy. I am celebrating your birthday in my own way this year. Pretending to hit my head on doors when I open them, running really fast across the street even though there are no cars in sight, and greeting people with a huge smile while perhaps slightly invading their personal space. I cannot believe it has been almost 9 years since we were roommates. I think I'll also buy a bottle of Manischewitz and drink it this weekend.

You are 28 years old today and I've thought a great deal about you today, as I have every day. Marissa came over to the house for lunch for your birthday. Josh is in California so he couldn't be here. Mom made eggplant pizza, pasta with eggplant, and chocolate cake with marshmallows. Of course the lunch was for you and you would have loved it. It has been a while since I posted a message. Just been thinking about you more than usual lately. I remember one of your bother's emails a long time ago stating do not feel sad for Jonathan, but feel sad for the world for not having him in it anymore. I think I was sad for you because I knew how much life you still had in you and how much you loved life. You took so much more advantage of your time than anyone I have ever known. I think about that every day and try to learn and experience as much as I can. But I do believe your brother was right and that the world and everyone you had contact with have lost even more.

Your fifth yahrzeit was today. Five years does not seem to have passed in terms of milestones in our lives and I wonder how that could have been different. What would you be doing now and what would have been the nature of your life's experience during these five years? We love you and you are with us always.
