Happy birthday Jonathan. I know that it is technically not your birthday, since it's past midnight, but we just came back from New York, where we had dinner with Josh and your friends. I guess you know that we get together with them for your birthday. Chip and Marisa were there - Chip came from Nashville. Emily and her friend Lefty were there. And Josh's friend Katie came. We went to Kate's, and Chip noticed that the first song that we heard was by The Velvet Underground, a group you like that I had heard there before.
Before we left for New York, I wrote a letter to Dr. Uckun, in Minnesota, to thank him for his kindness to you when we visited him three years ago. I had meant to write him for a long time, and today seemed like the right time.
Mom baked a cake for your birthday and we're going to have some in a few minutes.
I think about you every day and I love you.
